Focusing on Reducing Stress for Caregivers

16 Aug

Stress is a huge problem for the 65 million+ family caregivers in the US.   Cranium Crunches and media partner the Caregiving Club, are highlighting this issue and focusing on ways to help caregivers reduce stress, stay healthier, and improve quality of life.

A little background….

Sherri Snelling, founder of the Caregiving Club and author of A Cast of Caregivers – Celebrities Stories to Help You Prepare to Care, writes about caregiver stress relief for Huff Post 50, PBS NextAvenue.org, Forbes.com and the Examiner.com among others.   Sherri is a consistent, positive voice, passionate advocate, and invaluable resource for caregivers across the country.

Overall, stress relief is good for brain health.  Controlling the chemicals released when under stress is key to limiting long-term damage to the functional areas of the brain and countering some of the known risk factors for developing dementia.

The Caregiving Club’s Me Time Monday program is a way to remind each individual caregiver, that in order to function best and do the best job possible, it is so important to take care of yourself.   As Sherri reminds us, we can find our Zen zone through stress relieving relaxation exercises.
